AGING SAFELY is an Elder Care/Senior company that provides educational resources and free tools to anyone seeking to place an Elder into an Adult Family Home (AFH) in the State of Washington. The information on this site is intended for medical professionals, guardians, or just anyone who has an elder or disabled person needing help. Placing a loved one is never easy. It is an exercise in family love, duty, and perseverance. In addition, remember that Long Term Care Placement is a specialty inside the medical world, and every appropriate professional tool may need to be accessed before an acceptable outcome can occur.
We became involved in AFH Placement several years ago when our mother fell and broke a hip, necessitating a move from her Retirement Center Condominium to an AFH. At that time, the Snow family learned just how truly stressful and time-consuming long term care placement is. That is when Dotti began to assess AFH’s and to use her professional nursing skills to find the right AFH for individuals and couples.
"Seek ye counsel of the aged for their eyes have looked on the faces of the years and their ears have hardened to the voices of Life. Even if their counsel is displeasing to you, pay heed to them."

Professional Consulting Service
Aging Safely's Professional Consulting Service, Dotti Snow, RN or her staff places clients into Adult Family Homes located mainly on the Eastside of the Seattle-area. Our professional service generally involves medically complex patients, is labor intensive and requires considerable travel time. Therefore, we cover only a very specific Seattle-Eastside area: Bellevue, Bothell, Brier, Canyon Park, Duvall, Issaquah, Kenmore, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Mill Creek, Monroe, Redmond, Renton, Sammamish, Snohomish and Woodinville. Our clients come from their homes, nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living facilities, and retirement centers.
To accomplish a good placement, we require meeting and assessing the client, medical records, geographic preferences, personal information about the client, and financial restrictions. We then accompany the family to 3-4 AFHs we believe can meet the present and future needs of the client. The family then chooses the home. After admission, we follow up as appropriate. To see what you should expect from an Adult Family Home Placement Service see Selecting a Placement Service. Obviously there are many families inside and outside this area needing help. That is why we are hosting a statewide access list of AFH’s that may be used without cost seniors.

Web-based AFH Marketing Services
You may now also choose to access a list of licensed Adult Family Homes in Washington State, with or without the assistance of a facility discharge coordinator or other professional, and navigate your own route to locating Adult Family Homes located in your geographic perference. For families and elders in many locations within Washington State, or those on Medicaid, this may be the only option.
Only AFH facility information will be offered on this site as that is our area of expertise. We do not place into Assisted Living Facilities or Nursing Homes.
We have great hopes that this site will give the AFH Industry more visibility. Many exceptionally good homes have difficulty filling their beds because of their inability to market themselves, but they have excellent care-giving skills. The cost of a good AFH is generally 25-50% less than a nursing home, with infinitely more nurturing care. Some homes are owned by registered or practical nurses who give highly skilled nursing care. As our population ages, we will need more and more facilities to accommodate our elders. Aging Safely's director, Dotti Snow RN, believes that good Adult Family Homes are the cutting edge of Long Term Care.
"He who would pass his declining years with honor and comfort, should, when young, consider that he may one day become old, and remember when he is old, that he has once been young."
